Pee, idiocy, and obesity

18 Oct

Ok if I wasn’t yet sure about the fact that the people below me are complete idiots, I sure as shit am now. I saw them outside, about a week ago, when I was taking Nef out so I walked over to them to say “hello” and talk for a bit. They give a whole new meaning to the term “sheltered.” But besides that, the guy starts talking to me about the TV and how they’re thinking about canceling cable. I’m like say what? Cuz cable was kind of an unwritten understanding we had which was included in me living here, similar to the internet. The best part about it though is their reasoning. See, they have a baby, about 5 months old now, maybe 6 and they’re worried that he’s watching too much tv. I’m like say what, again? He’s like well my wife watches too much TV (cuz apparently she’s not capable of A)talking for herself  B)watching what TV she wants to  C)turning the TV off at times when they baby is around). Not to mention he’s a BABY he doesn’t watch TV, he prolly don’t even know what the hell it is. I’ve been in their apartment. That baby is so oblivious to the TV when it’s on, he’s obviously getting nothing from it bad or good. But they are convinced because they read a study that says TV harms babies under 2 years of age that it’s going to interfere in the baby’s mental growth (as if his gene pool isn’t interfering enough). I mean really, who is that anal about TV? And then like doesn’t just think “well maybe I’ll just watch TV a little less” or “I’ll just watch stuff when the baby’s sleeping.” No, we’re gonna cancel cable. I mean I was basically raised on TV and look at me… Anyway, I got a call from them the next day telling me they were gonna have cable turned off and sure enough they did. RIDICULOUS. So good news is that I now have Dish and get over 200 channels. The bad news is I have to pay for it.

In dog and cat news… Saunders has been pretty good at pooping in her litter box ::knocking on wood::. I haven’t noticed any out-of-box accidents for days now. Nefler is still all up in her when she goes by standing like 2 inches outside the box while she does her business and staring at her (a trait I could see being related to someone he’s “related” to) but at least he allows her to go. Saunders seems to just have issues with where she pees now. If she’s pooping and has to pee, then she’ll go in the box. But if she just has to pee, it seems like she always goes in Nefler’s crate. I mean it’s good in the sense that I don’t have to wonder too much where she’s peeing, but she’s not always going where she’s supposed to, and I don’t get that.

Completely unrelated to anything here but quite interesting and something I totes agree with: http://childhoodobesitynews.com/2010/10/15/when-there-is-nothing-to-do-but-eat/

And now your guilty pleasure of the day. And by “your” I mean “mine.”

Just a slight digression in my day

Ok, Nefler is officially too cool for school. I was given one of those red laser pointers for Saunders and him to play with and so I tried it out by letting the light bounce and run around on the floor. After less than two minutes, and Nefler realizing that for some reason he couldn’t catch it with his mouth, he realized that the light was coming from the laser pointer in my hand and started to jump up and bite that. Idk, I just got the biggest kick out of him figuring that out so fast.

One thing that he does that I don’t love though is his biting of Saunders’ ears. I know that’s a thing they do when they play with each other but his bites seem to be a bit overbearing and cause her to yip out once in a while which I am definitely not a fan of. Anyone know what to do about that? Should I just let it go? I have been, for the most part, because when she yips he seems to stop for a moment. And often times when I pull him off of her, she will then go after him (even if she will undoubtedly get her ass kicked again). He also tends to harass her while she’s attempting to use the litter box. She will then be scared to go while he’s there and run in the front room and take her shit there. Deffff not a fan of that either. She seems to know where to go for the most part, it just seems to be his interference that causes the mishap. I’m open to any suggestions.

Quick entry here, now off to work on writing/brainstorming and the like.

The end of the first week

So I’m happy to say that the longer Saunders has been here the more she seems to fit in. She’s such a little princess. But not in a spoiled brat kind of way. In fact she seems quite disinterested in 75% of the toys or treats I’ve gotten her (anyone want Tuna Flakes, Vitakitty chicken breast pieces, or a Kong glitter orange ball with a bell inside?). It’s like I wanna spoil her like I spoil Nef yet she has no interest. But she really is a sweet little princess. I so didn’t wanna be sexist and make her wear pink collars and have pink bowls and a pink litter box buttttt, the more I get to know her, the more she seems like a pink girl. It just suits her. (Nef is more of a neutral boy, favoring tans, sometimes reds, and the Burberry pattern.) So far she has a pink litter pan, red litter scooper with a kitty on it, pink brush, and pink cupcake collar. And will be getting pastel pink and blue soft paws if her nails get OOC (I do not want to declaw). My speech therapist said she’d come over and help me put them on if I need to. I’m almost kinda hoping I don’t need to cuz I feel bad (even though they come highly recommended and from all accounts are safe) but just in case I know I’ll prolly need help. She also was a bit stinky from the SPCA (just a tiiiny bit) and I couldn’t fully bathe her because she still has her stitches in so I got some kitten wipes and spritzed her with a Strawberry Yogurt spray. Lemme say I highly recommend that spray because it made her smell like Strawberry Shortcake and that’s always a plus. I took her to the vet the other day for her first checkup and also because she had a cold and I was worried it was a URI. I’m glad to say it wasn’t and she seems to be getting better aaaand weighs 2.2lbs heh. Her and Nef have learned to play with each other better. I also think it helps that she eats all the time and has filled out a teeny bit (she was skin and bones when I got her). He does nip at her though when he gets jealous which I’m not too thrilled about. It seems to be just nips at the air near her ears usually, but I don’t want to take any chances. She’s getting good at batting him though and her claws don’t seem too long yet to hurt him (I’m hoping). The only issue is sleeping. They don’t know how to cohabitate at night yet and spend a good chunk of it messing around. Because what do they care, they can nap during the day. Unlike their mother.

I get my new couch tomorrow! I’m so excited. It’s this super tacky sea foam green and I love it. But it actually matches the painting in my front room so it’s gonna be awesome.
